May 20, 2016 The Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for Mac is GREAT! With a key arrangement like my MacBook, it is very nice. I do not miss the USB corded keyboards of the past at all. I will keep a corded one handy as it may be needed with some hardware or software changes.

I bought the laptop stand by Rain and the Apple wireless keyboard. My doctor suggested raising my laptop up to eye level and also getting a remote keyboard that I could use instead of the one on my laptop. Together, these items have reduced the stress on my neck and shoulder muscles immediately! I recommend these 2 items along with a wireless mouse to truly change the way the neck and shoulders feel after even a few minutes on the computer.

The keyboard is quiet so im not gonna wake anybody up while im editing late in the night (lol) the connectivity was a breeze. Since i am using Apple's Spaces, i was able to reassign some of the keys on the top row to enable Spaces, to clear the desktop, to cascade windows etc. Im pleased with the amount of space i've saved on my desk & the functionality of this keyboard. It makes me feel less stressed I would recommend this item to a friend! The keyboard itself is very light and slick in appearance as can be expected of Apple products.
The product arrived quickly and in great condition. Price was the lowest I found. Definitely satisfied with my purchase currently.

I picked up one these and couldn't be happier. Received in perfect condition, the batteries last forever like with the wireless mice apple has too. Alongside an Apple TrackPad and this keyboard is great for my laptop, and can easily be thrown into my laptop bag for ipad use or laptop use. July 3, 2013 I've had this for over a year now and I can't work without it. If you're looking for a keypad and don't want the full wired Apple keyboard, this is for you.

Laying on the desk, it's a pretty close match to the Apple Wireless keyboard (color wise). It's made of plastic, hence the price. But because it's such a close match it really doesn't look like it is. I will say that the initial connection setup can be a little tricky but once you get it connected and set it as a favorite device, it connects and stays connected just about every time. I've had instances where it lost connection and I had to setup the bluetooth again, but it doesn't happen enough for me to get frustrated. I love that it's wireless and it's worked without complaining for over a year! I would recommend this item to a friend!
Verified Buyer Reviewer: Anonymous Age: 45-54 Experience Level: Power User Owned Product: over 6 months Rating: 2/5 Worked OK - then died shortly after warranty expired May 9, 2013 I quite liked this unit when I got it. I had some issues with how long it would take to 'wake' and connect to my Mac if I hadn't been using it shortly before, but it always did. Apart from the numeric keypad, it has been great to be able to have a 'Del' key for logging on to some Windows VMs on my Mac. However, a few months now after expiry of the warranty, it has completely stopped working. New batteries won't help - it just wont light up and try and pair when you press the button in the back.
If it is this flakey, I won't be buying another to replace it. I should be able to expect a fair service life from a unit like this that has never been moved from my desk - and and 15 months is not that!
Verified Buyer Reviewer: Chito Location: Ohio Age: 55-65 Experience Level: Home User Owned Product: over 6 months Rating: 5/5 Works great for me March 6, 2012 I honestly don't understand the negative reviews of this product. I'll admit I'm not a HEAVY user of the keypad but when I need it it just works. Tap a key it wakes up and stays that way. I don't have the sleeping, pairing or stuttering issues mentioned in the negative reviews. I think this keypad is great and considering the price I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend it. Verified Buyer Reviewer: chaosrv Location: NY NY Age: 25-34 Experience Level: Power User Owned Product: over 6 months Rating: 4/5 Love this product January 11, 2012 Is this keypad perfect? Of course not, no product (not even apple's own products) are perfect. There are some occasional connection issues but I can't really blame the manufacturer. I have the standard Apple bluetooth keyboard and the magic trackpad - both lose connection more often than the keypad. The biggest issue I have with the keypad is the pairing but I don't think it is entirely the manufacturer's fault either. Sometimes the keypad will disconnect and the OS still says it is connected. This happens even if I take the batteries out so it can't be the keypad's issue.
Oh, to the review that said this is a fail because it is plastic. The color matching is pretty spot on so who really cares? It is the best we have. Apple doesn't make one themselves and if they did it would cost a lot more than $40. I would recommend this item to a friend! Verified Buyer Reviewer: JeffW Location: Texas Age: 45-54 Experience Level: Home User Owned Product: less than a month Rating: 1/5 Waste of time June 26, 2011 Great idea, nice design, complete failure from a user standpoint.
The idea is great since Apple doesn't currently offer an extended bluetooth keyboard. I've looked at several from other vendors and they are just too big for the space I have for my keyboard/trackball. The unit matches and connects to the aluminum keyboard nicely and looks good. Then the trouble starts.
The keypad is constantly going to sleep which gives you the 'connection lost' notice and the 'connected' notice when it wakes up. Of course, the keyboard assistant wants to identify the keyboard each time so you are constantly having to close that window. The keypad also has a tendency to lag so you aren't always sure if the keystroke will show up and sometimes stutters and inserts the number multiple times even if you only hit the key once and are not even making contact with the keypad. The docs indicate these problem can be caused by low power. So every time the problem gets to bad to ignore I change the batteries.
In 10 days I have changed the batteries 4 times. I used the alkalines that came with the board and 3 sets of freshly charge NiMHs. I checked the NiMH and the are showing good on my charger, they are less than a year old, and they are the LSD type. The same batteries last a couple of months in the Apple keyboard. The keyboard and keypad are located less than 3 feet from my Mac MIni and there are no significant obstructions or objects to block the signal.
So, either I have a unit that is bad out of the box, which bring their QC in to question, or the design is inherently flawed. Verified Buyer Reviewer: JJQ224 Location: Virginia Beach Age: 45-54 Experience Level: IT Professional Owned Product: less than a month Rating: 4/5 Something desperately needed May 16, 2011 So, I am a recent Mac convert. I have been working with MS since DOS days and couldn't wait for the Mac to become more mainstream. The day finally came and I bought an iMac. Imagine my surprise to find that the wireless keyboard has no keypad. I use that religiously and found it very hard to break that habit.
Owc Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard For Mac Pro
I was reading an issue of Macworld and found this product in a review and bought it without hesitation. Next to buying the actual Mac, this was the best purchase I have made.
It matches perfectly and works flawlessly. There are only two issues I have. The first is that I would have liked it to be aluminum like the actual keyboard. The second, and really more important, is that in VMware Fusion, the keypad is not recognized - making it unusable in my Windows environment. I have two applications that I have to use Windows for - and one is number intensive. I hope there is a way around this, and will be looking for an answer (I've only had a short time to use the product so far).
Other than that, I highly recommend this! I would recommend this item to a friend! Reviewer: SteverB Location: Chicago, IL Age: 45-54 Experience Level: IT Professional Owned Product: less than a month Rating: 1/5 Poor performing product May 15, 2011 In my setup (a Mac mini attached to my HDTV about 8 feet away from my keyboard), this keypad would not stay connected. It would constantly drop the bluetooth connection and sometimes would reconnect within a few seconds of pressing a key, but more often needed to be repaired with the computer.
Troubleshooting suggested that batteries might be low, but I am using brand new, fresh Duracell Ultra batteries. This unit seems to work best with line of sight, but even then, it would randomly drop or worse, mindlessly repeat keys as if I was holding down a key. My advice for this unit is to either find a previous Apple wireless keyboard WITH the numeric keypad or live without the Apple keypad on the aluminum wireless model. Doing without is really a better option than using this thing!
Response from MacSales.com, Executive December 27, 2011 It is unfortuante and not accurate that an OWC tech suggested there were 'many complaints' about this product. OWC has shipped thousands upon thousands of this item to very satisfied customers and Apple even now offers this in their own stores. Cropmark has improved both the directions and the pairing explanation since the this product began shipping in 2010 - to address a misunderstanding with how this worked that was reponsible for complaints such as yours. I ordered this Keypad the same day I saw it advertised in the MacLife mag.
It fits perfectly along side the keyboad and fits snugly. The keypad itself works flawlessly. I have not had one bit of trouble with it what soever. It works just like it is supposed to. This to me makes using my bluetooth keyboard feel like a wired keyboard.
The best money that you will spend. Thanks OWC for carrying this product.

For a low-cost alternative to Apple's Magic Keyboard, you'll be happy with Anker's universal Bluetooth keyboard. It uses the Magic Keyboard's scissor mechanism keys, so your typing experience will be very familiar. It doesn't come with a lot of bells and whistles, but for the price, it's the perfect alternative. There are lots of on the market.
